Message: Plant Currant bushes in an area that receives full sun. Regarding pruning, Black currants set fruit on young new wood while red & white currants set fruit on two & three year old wood. Every spring, you should select about 6 canes to leave & prune the rest back to 2 buds. These will help ensure a healthy fruit set for the following year.
