Message: Hello, after trimming down my Asparagus patch, A funny looking shoot grew. It is flat like a lasagna noodle and curves slowly around. Any ideas what it is? Thanks, Dave

Message: You have a fasciated asparagus spear. This is where tissue appears to be fused together and stems become wider and flatter. It is thought that fasciation occurs where there has been mechanical injury to the growing tip (due to hoeing or pushing up though hard soil), chemicals, bacteria, viruses, etc...
