Message: We have a beautiful 6 yr old weeping birch that we have just discovered was attacked by sapsuckers over the winter. It is June and the tree's leaves have not come out altho the branches are still pliable and not dry. Can we save this tree??

Message: Once the damage is done it is a wait and see process. If the tree is not completely girdled it will probably grow out of it. The tree not leafing out to start with is not a good sign. Wrapping the main trunk with tree wrap paper will prevent further damage.
