Message: It is possible to fool spring flowering bulbs such as crocus, tulips, daffodils, hyacinth etc... into beleiving they have gone through winter. Generally this is done by placing them in a cool area for 8-10 weeks. Temperature should be between 0 and 10 degrees celcius. They can be potted and placed in a heated carport or placed in your refrigerator as long as there is not fruit in there as well. The gases that ripening fruit let off will cause the flower to shatter. This is a popular practice for gift giving at Christmas. What better than a little sign of spring in the dead of winter!
